Every kid deserves
a place to belong.

More than a basketball league. We create space for young people to compete, connect, and grow—on the court and beyond it.

Our mission

Better players.
Better teammates.

We teach the values that carry far beyond the final buzzer: teamwork, pride, respect, commitment, sportsmanship, and a healthy attitude toward winning.

CYO Basketball League of Western Massachusetts brings local programs together to give young athletes a structured, welcoming place to learn the game. Every practice is a chance to build confidence. Every game is a chance to show character.

How to play

Your season,
step by step.

League teams begin with local communities. We help programs turn gym time, volunteer energy, and a love of basketball into a season that matters.

01

Find your local program

Teams are organized through participating parishes, schools, and community programs across Western Massachusetts.

02

Register & get placed

Your local coordinator will share registration details, team placement, practice plans, and any evaluation dates.

03

Practice with purpose

Players build fundamentals, basketball IQ, confidence, and the habits that make a team work.

04

Compete. Connect. Grow.

Game days bring communities together around spirited competition, fair play, and young people doing hard things well.

Built for more

The score matters.
So does everything else.

Our standard is simple: make the game better for every young person who steps into the gym.

01

Teamwork

Share the ball, communicate, and make the people around you better.

02

Respect

Honor teammates, opponents, coaches, officials, families, and the game itself.

03

Commitment

Show up prepared, keep learning, and finish what you start.

04

Sportsmanship

Compete with energy. Win with humility. Lose with perspective.

05

Belonging

Build a gym culture where every child can be seen, supported, and challenged.

Game day standard

Bring the energy.
Keep the perspective.

Players play. Coaches teach. Officials officiate. Families encourage. When everyone knows their role, the gym becomes a better place to grow.

Questions before tipoff?

Here are the answers families and volunteers ask for most.

How does my child join a team?

Registration is handled by participating local programs. Email info@wmcyo.org or call the league office and we’ll help point you toward a program serving your community.

Who can participate?

The league works with local youth programs across Western Massachusetts. Age groups and team availability vary by program, so your local coordinator can confirm the right division.

When are schedules released?

Coaches and program coordinators receive league schedules and game-day updates once team placement and gym availability are finalized.

Can I coach or volunteer?

Yes. Strong programs depend on prepared, positive adults. Contact your local program about coaching, scorekeeping, concessions, event support, and other volunteer needs.
